Heron Projects
Ogemaw Rose Community Wind Project
This 30 to 50 megawatt wind project with a total capital cost of approximately $60 to $100 million has been under development since early 2009, when the first wind study meteorological tower was installed near Rose City, Michigan by Smiley Energy Services, LLC. This project may be financed and accomplished in one 50 MW phase, or in investment phases. Phase I has site approval for 30 MW; Phase II site approval is pending, and will provide the additional 20 MW planned for the project. A 50 MW total of approximately 100 million kW-hrs per year (100,000 MW-hrs/yr) will be generated from the wind project. This electric energy generation would approximate the annual consumption of 14,000 homes, far in excess of the Ogemaw County residents.
White Earth Nation Community Wind Project
White Earth Nation is Minnesota's largest and most populous Native American reservation. The tribe has developed an interest in community wind projects to provide clean, green energy to their constituents. 750 kWs of clean energy can now be produced from the winds of Minnesota! This is Heron Wind's first comprehensive community wind installation.
Saginaw-Chippewa Indian Tribe
The Saginaw-Chippewa Tribe of Michigan provided Heron Wind with its first undertaking in the wind energy market. Heron Wind imported a Danish 300kW turbine for installation on tribal land. This served as a development and training exercise for the Heron Wind team, and has familirized our staff with the renewable energy incentives available to Native American tribes.
